Granny’s Deco-Alphas

You are all exceptional – The people who are actually reading this make up the small three percent who take the time to read my posts and then post back their thanks. You inspire me to keep on creating kits no matter how tedious and time-limited my schedule is. You make me forget about the ninety-seven percent of those who download my files and never post anything. I am not bothered about them anymore. I have those precious few who make me forget the ninety-seven. This post is for the precious few.

It started with just one simple idea: share with the world my fond memories of my two grandmas through my digital kits. However, your posts about your guesses and why you were guessing that way based on your own memories of your own grandmothers are simply wonderful! I ask you to read each post.

Each one of you is sharing her own fond memories of growing up with Grandma and I feel so blessed being able to read them! Running to the pantry, treacle pudding… watching grandma cook and the smells and colors of her kitchen…growing in a farm… sitting on her lap, her perfume… You ladies are actually sharing your fondest memories too and I love every single post about your grandmas! It’s like reading several short blog posts at once! LOL! I also love the fact that this design line made you remember them fondly… We are all remembering the wonderful women who touched our lives deeply and remembering them all through our craft! Don’t you just feel great about that?

Next guess…
In Her Hands Exclusive Freebie Set
(under The Sewing Room line)
Freebie ONE for the next correct guess

Well I do. So I am adding another freebie set for the next correct guess to make it 2 freebie sets! Aside from the sheet “In Her Hands” that comes with a matching ribbon and bow (above)… I’m adding another re-design of the “purple sheet” which most of you have raved about. (LOL it’s my fav too!) I was intending to keep this sheet for myself! I have decided to share it because you shared me your granny stories! You, the precious few. (I have 3 versions of the purple set, the one I released in The Sewing Room Set, the one here now as a freebie and another one thats so grossly distressed but charming which I intend to keep for now – ok?) You have no idea of the tons of emails I received not counting all your posts! My inbox had never felt sooo full and never took that long to download! LOL! So here it is… another freebie set FOR the next correct guess! This makes 2 freebies for this round of guessing so keep posting those guesses ladies! And my deepest thanks for sharing your stories with me.

Post your question to the answer: What will be the next “room” I will design for My Granny’s Place?

My Granny’s Place Exclusive: Purple on Her Wall Set
Purple on Her Wall Exclusive Freebie Set – I love this!
(under The Sewing Room line)
Freebie TWO for the next correct guess

Now, on to my next gift! What makes a deco-alpha different from a regular one? Well, you use about one or two deco alphas only to embellish your layouts. You NEVER use it to compose a word (unless that’s your style!) or a sentence like some your regular alphas. A deco-alpha can be your main embellishment on a page to bring focus on your photo OR message.

My Granny’s Deco Alphas

Here’s a vellum-coated gold deco-alpha embellished with a printed flower and a small gemstone. No two letters are exactly patterned alike. I love you all too much to make a rush job out of this. (Besides, you should know by now that I am a stickler for details. LOL!) This is how I thank you for sharing your stories. Thank you all for appreciating my work. Thank you for the HUGS you’ve clicked in the side panel! LOL! I’m warmed all over! Have a great weekend ahead!

Thank you so much for all your wonderful work! I’m a huge fan. My guess for the next room is: The Parlor
My granny had a room like that, stuffed with all kinds of precious things gathered over a lifetime. “No touching kids!”, those were the rules… lol.

Thank you for sharing these with us. I know I look forward to hearing about everyone’s memories. I have only a few of my own grandmothers and I cherish them. I plan to use your freebies to scrap family photos. Thank you once again for your time and thoughtfulness!

    Hello,

I’ll like to thank you again for sharing with us your creations. They are wonderful. I’m sorry my English is not very good. I read your today message, I’m not shur that I understand all (for example what you mean with “correct guesses”). But I see that you are asking for our history with our grandma. I’m sorry but with my English it’s a little bit difficult. One of my grandma die before I born and the other a little later so I don’t have much souvenirs to share with you.
Thank you again for this beautiful alpha!

Love the alpha; thank you very much! Just one little thing; while I was admiring it as you said no letters had the same design I noticed that I do not have the letter D, in it’s place is the letter Z, I have the letter Z twice but no letter D
Could the next room be the living room?

I love this charming alpha! Thank you. I am stubbornly sticking with my original guess on the next room, the boudoir. I LOVE bedrooms and I can only imagine granny had a beautiful one. :)
I WISH I had stories to share. Both of my grandmothers were gone before I was born, one of them 15 years prior and the other 10 years prior. I never had the pleasure of knowing any grandparents when I was growing up except for those of some other kids which was lovely, but kinda not the same. But now, as a grandmother myself, I wish I could duplicate those exquisite rooms to give my grandsons something about me to appreciate.
Again, thank you for your precious gifts.

Thanks for the lovely alpha. I haven’t done any guessing yet, but I’m going to have to guess the next room will be the kitchen, since that’s a room I associate with grandmothers.

    Take care and God bless

This is a lovely alpha. Thank you for sharing it with us. I am still going to stick with my original guess of Granny’s Kitchen. I can still see the vinyl tablecloth on her table and the big wooden board she used to roll out her pie crusts on. She made the flakiest, most tender pie crust of any one. As to kinds, I never could make up my mind which one I liked best. Her pumpkin, apple, pecan, cherry, apple, lemon, coconut or banana cream, and I can’t forget her mincemeat (she used green tomatoes and raisins to make her own homemade mincemeat) were all equally delicious to a kid. Geeeze, now I got my mouth watering.
Can’t wait to see your next room is going to be. LOL

This is such an awesome kit…I didn’t know my Grandmothers very well as I was very young when both
passed on…but I love the stories of your and everyone
else’s Grandmothers…I think the next room will be the
    Kitchen.

    Thank You

the alphas are all a pretty! i really admire you for your talent and generosity mabelle. i don’t know how you can squeeze the time to create these beautiful kits in your schedule coz i don’t think i can do that! LOL! you’re one pinay i am really proud of!

i hope the next room is the kitchen. my lola (Filipino term for grandma) used to cook for us when we were little. But now, she’s gone blind already, all the more I cherish what she have shared with us, her grandkids.

The alphas are beautiful, cant wait to use them. I’m guessing my granny’s kitchen will be the next room  Although I never experienced my grannies cook, my children’s grannies love to cook (that’s my mom and mother-in-law!) and so do I. Although I’m hoping you do a Dressing Room series because I have the fondest memories of my granny (whom I call “Mama”) sitting at the little dressing chair, with her hair all done up and dusting powder on her pretty face lining her eyes and trying to put her little “runaway mole” on her cheek (she acualy paints a small beauty mark on her face). I would always stay by her side and watch fascinated.

Thanks for the lovely alpha. I think the next room should be the front porch. My grandmom’s beach house had a wrap around porch and that’s where everyone gathered; a place to see and be seen. My favorite was the big porch swing.
