A “Star Bar!” All distressed, sewn and sized perfectly for a 12×12 page. Paste it horizontally or vertically and it will do it’s job — bring focus to the photo you are scrapping.
The Let Go Let Love Freebie is almost over. I have one more freebie left to issue under the series that took me all of two hours and 20 minutes to do. It is something to look forward to – trust me. I will also be giving you a peek at what I have been up to these several days (the reason why I’ve been posting a lot shorter than normal. LOL!) in my NEXT blogpost. It’s something DIFFERENT — as all of you who took the time to answer my survey wanted in common — the ONLY answer you all have in common — “something different.”
Download the Star Bar here and try to leave word. It’s quite disappointing to see a handful of women post a comment or two and about a hundred and seventy download clicks. I guess I’d be going back to “scout for the password” thing very soon =( Now if you are up to the task of scrapping a “book” and getting FIVE samplers – read on! If you are here just for the freebie then can stop reading now.
My next kit has something to do with scrapping five pages. It can be:
- Five Things My Mom Taught Me
- Five Things I Learned From My Husband
- Five Things I Want You to Remember Me By
- Five Things I Learned The Hard Way
- Five Things I Love About You
- Five Things I Remember You Doing This Summer
- My Five Birthday Wishes
Any five of any thing you would like to scrap about! Think of your own topic if you wish. The most important thing you need to consider is this: have at least five photos ready and the five things you have to scrap about must have something to do with the following “page themes:”
- learning/adventure/the unexpected/taking chances
- hanging tough/being persistent/strength
- liking yourself/letting go/fun/relaxing
- believing/trusting
- friends/working together
The rules are very simple – Only those who will scrap and send their finished page will have the download link to the next sampler set. You can’t skip a submission and go on to the next. You have to complete all five scrapping assignments one after the other.
Those who don’t send a page can always download a small freebie item I’m also preparing to be given away IF the comments keep coming. If not, I’ll be sticking to the scrapping “assignments” and limited sampler giveaways. It isn’t nice for that people go download without a word when I’ve spent hours doing something for them to enjoy. Of course they can go doing just that and merely purchase the HUGE kit I have coming (then I wouldn’t mind! LOL!)
- 21 decorated sheets – made like a comic book! Haha!
- 5 quick pages
- 6 simple sheets
- 6 printed sheets
- 6 plain sheets
- Three (THREE!) alpha sets – these ARE the embellishments!
- One journal tag
- Five embellishments
If you want to know how I made this kit, do continue reading.
This kit that’s for young and old, girl or boy, doesn’t need embellishments. The pages have everything to make a page pop. All it needs are your photos and you are on your way to making a “BOOK!” LOL!

This is the first kit where I’ve hand-drawn the major elements and the first one I’ve created that makes use of tinted pastel watercolors in vellum. The main background is mulberry paper. Above is my final rough sketch (aren’t they adorable! LOL!) If you can imagine the effect of lightly tinted watercolors in vellum paper (a filmy, waxy, transparent kind of paper), then thats EXACTLY what’s coming your way! THAT effect was just so d*mn hard to achieve! LOL! Check out the texture of the leaves and the flags!
Then I went a step further. I cut the vellum paper and layered it to create the shapes I want. Of course, everything I am describing I did digitally. But the thing is this – it’s just as hard! I worked on the kit for the last 3 weeks in hits and misses with nights that start at 7:30pm (after dinner) and ending at 4am (and I had to wake up at 6:45am for the office!). There are TWO FULL studies that I didn’t pursue after hours and hours of work because they didn’t work well with the light and airy theme of the kit. I’m still thinking what to do with those files. It would be a waste to delete them =(
The chipboard alpha was a pain! LOL! That alone had about 7 different layers to achieve that effect. That does not even include the coloring layers. =) But Im so happy how it turned out!
And then I scrapped with the kit myself. I always try the kit first before “publishing” it. And of course, as expected, when I started scrapping I ended up improving and creating more stuff to polish off the huge kit that’s coming your way. I’m still “polishing” as I post and will upload the kit for hours for the next 3 days or more. The upload speed is always half of the download speed… and my connection do sometimes suffer from C speeds – as in crappy! LOL!
About my survey. I heard you. I read all your answers to my survey. And while all the answers went in conflict with one another (I want flowers – I don’t want flowers, I want vintage but I scrap for children) – I did understand what you were trying to tell me. Despite the conflicting answers, you all had one thing in common. It is important for you that the kit be unique. That it be different (because you get to see the same thing re-worked by other designers). That it be made with the utmost attention to detail. I get it – you don’t go for the number of pieces but the overall quality of the set.
I appreciate you for taking the time to tell me that. And while I can’t do the impossible and promise you that every kit I will issue you will like, I can promise you that every kit I will issue (as I have always done from the beginning) will be made with the greatest care, attention to detail and will be as unique as MY memories. Besides, I’m more pumped up and scared than I’ve ever been in creating my kits. I have just found out that most of you (more than half!) are already designers creating your own kits!
The work you bring out to the world is amazing(!) and I can’t help but be “scared” that what I do (as I always do) might no longer “pass” your discriminating tastes! =( It used to be my work is looked over and scrutinized by the most discriminating scrappers I know. Now, my work is being given a more closer look with designer eyes and I’m scared to bits! LOL!
I hope you are excited as I am about this coming kit. Now go think about the topic of the five things you will be scrapping about and post your chosen scrapping topic below. Only those who will post or share a Let Go Let Love page for the gallery starting today will get the first sampler kit next week. To know how to send a page, click here.
And oh! Make sure you post your email correctly or you won’t get the password to the download link. Enjoy!

Thank you for this wonderful star bar gift. Unfortunately, I won’t be able to participate this time in the book scrap as I will be in and out of town over the next couple of weeks and will have limited access to a computer. Might just have to buy this kit!

OK, I’ll play, but i am a little confused. Do we wait for the first sampler and do the page with that sampler, or can we use any kit to create the book? More to the point i guess is, can we start now?
My topic is “Things my sister taught me”
Now my next question is does each page have to have a different page theme as well as a different thing i was taught?
I think that’s all my questions!
NOW, let me give you the praise! I woke up this morning with a firm grip on what i was to accomplish before i headed out to church this morning. I haven’t done any of it! Well, one of it i did. Check email. Oooops there is a new post at mydigistyle! Go, go, go! so i downloaded and unzipped the bar, which is grand, thank you!, then of course had to do a slideshow of the whole fabulous artwork of Let go Let Love. and here i sit, now late for church, LOL! I am loving your adventures in stitching in this kit! Also, these are some of my favorite colors! Loving it! Will be doing something with it when i get home from church!
Have a blessed day!

You are so creative, Mabelle – I wish I only had a smidgen of your talent! It sounds like whatever you’ve been working on is real neat. I can’t wait to see it. And thank you for the ‘star bar’ – it’s very nice – love that it would work well for a boy, too (that’s all God has blessed me with). I hope I can take part in your scrap challenge, though I’m not that great at it yet (I really need to find some PSP classes) so we’ll see.
Now on a personal note…. How are you & what’s the weather like over there?! I hope you are having a nice weekend.

My topic is: My 5 Birthday Wishes ~ perfect coz my 30th (!!) bday will be in less than two months.. Can’t believe that I’m hitting the BIG 3-0 already, LOL! Anyway, I have the same question as Denise: “Do we wait for the first sampler and do the page with that sampler, or can we use any kit to create the book?” Will wait for your reply
As for your new kit, ITS FANTASTIC! And I love how you shared how you made it. Never really thought how much work go into creating detailed kits (even though you always says so, hehe) until now. Thank you, really, for sharing your talent with us Mabelle
My only problem now is, butas na ang bulsa ko! LOL! Just came back from an unexpected summer trip and my Paypal account amount definitely took a nosedive, hehe

Wish I had time to scrap and play with the goodies you share with us . . . one of these days! The whole “5 things” project had my head swimming – not sure if it’s because you were confusing, or I’m trying to make sense of something at 2 in the morning, lol! Anyway, thanks so much for the freebie!
